What a Commercial Install Includes

Load Study

We measure your actual electrical demand to size the generator correctly, no guessing.

Permit & AHJ Coordination

We handle all permits and communicate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction on your behalf.

Automatic Transfer Switch

Transfers critical load to the generator automatically within seconds of an outage.

Concrete Pad & Fuel Connection

Proper installation requires a pad, proper clearances, and a code-compliant fuel connection.

Load Bank Commissioning

We test the generator under full load before handing it over.

What a Commercial Generator Installation Costs, And What Drives It

Commercial generator pricing depends on several factors that can move the number significantly in either direction. Generator size is the biggest driver: a 20 kW single-phase system for a small office costs far less than a 100+ kW three-phase system for a manufacturing facility or large medical building. Transfer switch type matters too, a critical load panel that powers only essential circuits is less expensive than a full-facility automatic transfer switch (ATS) that covers the entire building.

Site conditions add cost as well. A concrete pad must be poured to code with proper clearances from structures, windows, and fuel sources. The fuel source itself affects price, natural gas connections typically require less infrastructure than on-site diesel storage with a code-compliant tank. Permit complexity varies by county: some Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) in Florida require stamped engineering drawings for commercial generator installations, which adds both time and cost to the project.

As a general reference point, here is what installed projects tend to run in our market:

$15,000 – $35,000
Small Commercial
20–40 kW, single-phase, critical load panel
$35,000 – $80,000
Mid-Size Commercial
50–100 kW, may include three-phase and full-facility ATS

Large Facility
100+ kW, complex sites, stamped drawings, phased work

These are ballpark ranges, the only accurate number comes from a site visit and load study. Contact us to schedule yours.

Commercial Generator Compliance in Florida

Commercial standby generators installed in Florida are subject to NFPA 110, the standard for emergency and standby power systems. NFPA 110 specifies requirements for equipment classification, installation, testing, maintenance, and commissioning, including mandatory load bank testing before the system is accepted. Facilities in regulated industries such as healthcare must meet the more stringent NFPA 99 requirements as well. We document all commissioning steps so you have the paperwork when the inspector or accreditation body asks.

The Florida Building Code incorporates generator provisions that govern setback distances, fuel system requirements, and exhaust routing. What those look like in practice depends heavily on your AHJ, the Authority Having Jurisdiction. Palm Beach County, Brevard County, and the municipalities within them each interpret and enforce the code somewhat differently. Some require stamped engineering drawings for commercial generator projects; others do not. We know the local requirements and communicate with the AHJ before work begins, not after.

Load bank commissioning testing is not optional for commercial installations, it is the only way to verify that a generator will actually perform under real load conditions before you need it in an emergency. We conduct a full load bank test at rated capacity prior to sign-off and provide a written test report. If a system does not pass, we find out why and correct it before the job is closed out.
